Update to earning on flights

Starting July 11, 2024, we’re updating the way you earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points on flights depending on where you book. Learn which flights earn miles and Loyalty Points and which do not.

Our partnership with Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines is a leading carrier within the Hawaiian Islands and between Hawaii and Asia / Pacific. When you fly on Hawaiian Airlines, you can earn and redeem AAdvantage® miles.

Earn miles

You can earn AAdvantage® bonus miles when you fly on Hawaiian Airlines marketed and operated flights and Hawaiian Airlines codeshare flights operated by American Airlines.

Here's how:

  • Buy an eligible published fare ticket in an eligible booking code
  • Fly an eligible route

The number of miles you earn depends on the flight distance and the fare class of your ticket.

You won’t earn AAdvantage® miles on flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines between the U.S. Mainland and Hawaii.

Flights marketed by Hawaiian Airlines (booked as an HA flight number) are not eligible to earn Loyalty Points.
